We’re excited to announce the debut release of Erie Hardcore’s newest MARK OF FATALITY. One of the founding pillars SA Mob stood for was helping out those who you see doing their part for the scene. The crew in MOF have been doing this for years & making a strong presence. It’s a thrill to team up with some new blood from the area & make some noise. “Last Breath Under One Thousand Stars” launched on streaming sites today. CDep Pre-sales are now & will be shipping in December.

Surprise Attack Records hasn’t been overly active for the past several years.  I had gotten rather disenchanted with the way things were for the label.  I knew how to put out a good release I just didn’t know how to get rid of them.  Vinyl prices were going up and costing more to manufacture, and CDs were going to the wayside.  Bands would tour their asses off on a demo then I’d release their music and they’d break up.  It’s hard enough to sell a release for a nobody band let alone a broken up nobody band.  And that’s what I would release… the underdogs… the bands no one else was really interested in.  I didn’t care about trends or hype, just what sounded honest, true, and got my head bobbing.  I loved the creative process of it all though and definitely missed it.

So I shifted focus.  During that time my family was growing with two amazing sons now in my fold, along with a hectic few years of moving a couple of times.  I stopped all focus on the record label as it often felt like a money pit.  Hell during those moves I was even forced to throw away tons of dead stock from the label.  Talk about depressing.  I decided to put all of my energy and creativity into a new music project that some friends and I started right around this same time.  It’s called Human Animal and it’s the first time I’ve been the singer of a band.  My family and the band have kept me going all these years.

I never said Surprise Attack Records was dead or finished though.  I never really knew what lie ahead for the label and still don’t.  I had always wished that I had made it to fifty releases.  I got pretty close.  Maybe it’s time to try to obtain that goal.  We will have to wait and see.  - EMS
